About Us

Our Family Sporting Heritage in Cue Sports

In 1962 Joe with the help of his father bought into his first Pool Room at the Five Ways in Paddington. He was just 16 years of age and the sole bread winner for his family. He operated the business for 3 years, and it was during this time that Joe discovered his passion for Snooker and Pool. After some family arguments Joe left the business and went into partnership with his brother in a Fruit & Vegetable business.

In 1976, after 10 years of early hours and hard work, Joe decided to get back into his own business and bought into an existing Snooker and Billiards Room on Parramatta Rd at Leichhardt. It was here he met Jane and their partnership developed. Times were tough; Joe did some contract transport work for Slumberland Mattress’s on the side. After 6 years, Joe decided it was time to call it a day. He went and worked full time for Slumberland as their transport manager.

In 1986, he and Jane moved to Campbelltown to raise a family, bought the local pool room and operated the business for 7 years. It was only a small room with 2 snooker tables and 3 pool tables, but they saw how popular the game was and decided to expand the business.

Joe and Jane recall one of their proudest moments when in 1995 Top Shot was officially opened on Hollylea Rd Leumeah, by the then Mayor of Campbelltown, Russell Matheson. The business development project had taken a year and a half to finally bring to completion. The room was fitted with 26 tables.

Joe and Jane’s two sons, Chris and Vinnie, were growing up. Having spent many hours at the Pool Room during their childhood, they developed strong Cue skills. They both demonstrated their flair by winning the Under 12, 15, 18 and 21 State and National Championships. Chris and Vinnie have both represented Australia in International competition. In 2005, Vinnie won the Australian Open Snooker Championship. At 17 years of age, he was the youngest player ever, a record which still stands.

Top Shot has sponsored the NSW Junior Tournaments for a period of 9 years. We offer pool as a recreational sport to local High Schools and have been for the last 13 years. We also support schools with fund raising.

In 2006 we moved to our new location, at Airds Rd Leumeah. This was a significant milestone as we purchased our own property. This allowed us the opportunity to open a showroom alongside the Pool Hall, and started selling Pool and Snooker tables along with accessories, and provide the services we do.
